Behind the Scenes at Kidsagogo Part 1

This month we bring you the first part of our Behind the Scenes look at Kidsagogo.  We pride ourselves on attention to detail, impeccable finishing touches, and our unique, hand-made items, so we couldn’t resist showing you a little of what goes on in our factory, and how some of our celebrated products are created.  Our in-house artisans work along side our tailors, adding beadwork, crochet, and embroidery to dresses, accessories, and housewares, and it is this collaborative spirit that, we at Kidsagogo believe, brings out a playful beauty in our pieces.  We start our tour with a peek at our hand-embroidered baskets…. In Stitches Take a peek over our embroiderer’s shoulder. Our woven, lined baskets have become a staple in the Kidsagogo catalogue.  Light and spacious, they are beautiful bags for going to the beach, the library, or the market.  After the basket has been woven, the design is lightly sketched in pencil to ensure the final result appears symmetrical and proportionate. Using colourful, cotton thread, the embroidery begins.  Working from the center, outwards, the detailed, flower motif is created stitch by stitch.  Handling the woven straw is no easy task, yet our skilled ladies keep a steady hand and work with remarkable precision and speed.  After the basket has been embroidered, it goes over to our sewing table where it is lined with a printed, 100% cotton fabric.  To see more woven baskets and the range of available colours, click here. We just snapped a few photos of our brand new Embroidered Bamboo Bag and wanted to share them with you!  These delightful bags are made from 100% natural cotton and have a polished bamboo handle – perfect for hands big or small.  Each finished with a crisp, white, hand-embroidered flower motif.  Compact and light-weight, they are fresh and summery.  Look for them in stores and online soon.  In the meantime, you can see our printed version of the Bamboo Bag here.
